Climbing

by Thomas on October 27th, 2006

Safely on the groundToday I went climbing at DGI-Huset in central Århus with Jesper who invited me to come along. After an introduction to the gear we teamed up and started climbing. Hanging many meters above the ground and trusting the guy on the ground holding the other end of the robe to lower you safely to the ground is a great experience. Being the guy on the ground responsible for the safety off the climber is also quite thrilling. Climbing in itself was funny and great exercise for the arms and legs, I hope to go again sometime soon. Do you want to join me and try it out? The facilities at DGI-Huset were great, and they have the tallest indoor climbing wall in Denmark.

Here are some pictures:

  1. ye, ye, I’ve been there. and sometimes I’d like to join. may I, even if I’m a crappy climber? (I know that even number of persons is preferable)

  2. I’m a crappy climber too, I guess they can speak English, so you can probably join. And yes, you are supposed to pair up with one person holding the robe for the one doing the climber – however you team up in groups of three the first few times with the third person acting as an extra backup for the one holding the rope (too guarantee that at least one person holds the robe at any time)

  3. I think I can be a backup pesron pretty well. the point is that I’m lazy to go there regularly, so I want to find something to go just when I want. The first time I was there (DGI) was with my friends from climbing club, but they normally don’t go to DGI, since they have trainings in Kochskole three times a week anyway.
