New Motherboard

by Thomas on February 27th, 2006

I bought a motherboard today in an effort to save my dying old stationary computer (which I had already unsuccessfully tried to save by bying 512 megs of RAM), sadly it still does not work… ARGH!! It just sits there, the CPU fan spinning but nothing else is happening :(

  1. What kind of CPU is it? Have you tried disconnecting everything except the PC speaker, and listening whether it starts up?

I know you should know all this, but still … ;-)

  2. The only things connected are the ATX power connector, the cpu, the PC speaker, the cpu fan and a single memory sticlk, the board makes no sounds.
It is an AMD XP 1800+ in a brand new ASRock motherboard and a brand new kingston PC2100 512 meg memory stick.

  3. If someone has an AMD Athlon XP on loan/sale I would be very interested.
