Royal Visit

Yesterday (Frederik og Mary at CAVImonday) the newly wedly wed royal couple Frederik and Mary visited CAVI where I work, I managed to get this rather nice picture which is fairly exclusive since no media representatives were present inside the building, they were outside in large numbers though. I would not mess with those two guys in the door if I were you.

The funcionality of the 3D Studio MAX plugin is now nearly complete and I can start using it for creating objects for my engine, I also took the time to implement the new GTK file selection dialog in the application framework making it more convenient to save and load the scenegraThEngineshowing 3D Studio MAX plugin file loaderph. The screenshot shows the “Open Scene” dialog browsing my collection of stored scene graphs (most of them made by exporting from 3D Studio MAX of course). It is a rather large screenshot, feel free to admire the resolution of my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop.

New Bike

Yesterday I received my new bike and it is very nice. There was some issues with the wireless bike computer but they changed the receiving station and it works flawlessly now. It is very nice to have a nice bike again and I really think I deserved a new one since my old mountain bike is about 9 years old.

Tonight I am going to the movies with my girlfriend to watch Spider-Man 2, I’ve heard great things about it. I thought the first movie was fairly mediocre so I really hope the have made something better this time.

My 3D Studio MAX plugin is nearly done now, besides a bunch of minor things (like transformations) only major thing left is to export the materials.

Vacation

I have now returned to Ã…rhus after three weeks vacation, two of which I spent in France near the city of St. Tropez. I brought along my laptop and in between the bathing, relaxing and walking I managed to add a large amount of code to my engine. The scene graph can now be serialized and deserialized using custom streams which can be used to save to disk in my own fileformat or for logging purposes. the memory management system using reference counting has been greatly enhanced and I started working on a ray tracer.

In other news I bought a bike today, a Nishiki Touring bike with a price set at about kr. 5000 (excluding some minor accessories). The bike is a cross between a city bike, racer and mountain bike and is really nice, here’s hoping it will not be stolen.
